Southeast Regional Fly-in 2007 Middleton Field (GZH) Arrival/Departure Procedures


AIRCRAFT ARRIVALS

In anticipation of increased air traffic at Middleton Field (GZH) at Evergreen, AL, during the South East Regional Fly-in, (SERFI), the following procedures will be used to enhance safety and minimize air traffic delays.
NOTICE:

THERE WILL BE NO CONTROL OR ADVISORY TOWER IN OPERATION FOR MIDDLETON FIELD (GZH) DURING SERFI ‘07.

AIRCRAFT  TRAFFIC  PROCEDURES :
In anticipation of increased  traffic at Middleton Field (GZH), Evergreen, AL during (SERFI), Special Arrival and Departure Procedures  are established to provide for an orderly flow of traffic.  CHECK NOTAMS FOR MIDDLETON FIELD (GZH) BEFORE TAKEOFF.

SPECIAL ARRIVAL PROCEDURES:
When Special Arrival Procedures are in effect, aircraft inbound to Middleton Field will enter the landing pattern at the Belleville Way Point  RWY 01/19 IS THE DESIGNATED LANDING RWY DURING SERFI.  Use right traffic on Rwy 19 and left traffic on Rwy 01. If wind conditions dictate, the East/West runway will be opened for landing aircraft and announced on the CTAF frequency.    Announce your position on Middleton Field CTAF (122.70) when crossing the Belleville Way Point inbound.   Proceed in-trail from Belleville directly to the mid-field downwind entry point for the North/South Runway.   ONCE PAST BELLEVILLE, USE STANDARD PROCEDURES AND POSITION REPORTING FOR  LANDING AT NON-TOWERED AIRPORTS.

NO BASE OR STRAIGHT-IN ENTRIES TO THE TRAFFIC PATTERN ARE PERMITTED.

BELLEVILLE WAYPOINT:
The town of Belleville is located approximately  4 miles West of Middleton Field on the south side of  US Hwy 84   There is a power line sub-station at Belleville and just North of the sub-station  you will see a building with BELLEVILLE  painted on its roof.  This building is the Belleville Way Point.

AIRCRAFT WITHOUT RADIOS:
Aircraft without two way radio capability will follow the Belleville Arrival Procedure.  USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN SEQUENCING WITH  OTHER AIRCRAFT IN THE LANDING PATTERN.

IFR ARRIVALS:
The Belleville Way Point is located on the 098° Radial of the Monroeville VORTAC (MVC).   Aircraft arriving at MVC under IMC flight rules must enter VMC prior to the Belleville Way Point.

 ALTITUDES AND AIRSPEEDS:
Slow to 100 kts or less approaching the Belleville Way Point and join the arrival route at 2,000 feet MSL.   After Belleville, descend to be at 1,500' (Traffic Pattern Altitude), before turning downwind.

For aircraft unable to safely maintain 100 kts,  maintain a safe maneuvering speed and cross Belleview at 2,500 feet MSL. Maneuver to be sequenced with other landing aircraft before turning downwind.   USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN SEQUENCING WITH SLOWER  AIRCRAFT IN THE LANDING PATTERN.

ULTRA-LIGHT AIRCRAFT:
Arriving ultra-light aircraft will enter from the North to Northeastern direction from Middleton Field (GZH) at or below 500 feet AGL.  Remain well clear of the arrival portions of the North/South runway and the departure end of  runway 10.  The ultra-light runway is the Eastern 2,000 feet of the parallel taxiway for runway 10.  All patterns will be North of the Taxiway and East of airfield buildings.  Radio contact is not required, but if radio equipped, a listening watch on CTAF frequency (122.70) is recommended.

GROUND PROCEDURES, ALL AIRCRAFT:
After landing,, clear the runway as soon as practical.   Remain on CTAF frequency when on the runway.  Once clear of the runway, contact Ground Control on 121.65.   Flagmen will direct aircraft to designated parking areas.  Use the following parking signs for the parking area desired:

ACC - Antique/Classic/Contemporary
GAC - General Aviation Camping
GAP - General Aviation Parking  
HB - Homebuilt/Experimental Parking
WB - Warbirds Parking

CAUTION:   REMAIN ALERT FOR PEDESTRIANS ON TAXIWAYS AND IN PARKING AREAS.

AIRFIELD CLOSURES:
The airfield may be closed temporarily at various times for special air activities.  Dates and times will be announced by NOTAM.

DEPARTURES:
Aircraft will depart to the East on the open portion of runway 10  (approx. 3,000 feet of available runway).   Before engine start, radio contact on Ground Control frequency (121.65) is recommended. When turning on to the active runway, switch to CTAF frequency (122.70).   After departure, continue straight ahead until 4 miles East of the field boundary before turning on-course.  Do not over fly the airport below Control Zone altitude. EXERCISE CAUTION FOR OTHER AIRCRAFT APPROACHING THE FIELD.
